Kathy has served NAPO and the organizing profession like few
others. She has offered her leadership to two NAPO
chapters, as a founder of the New England chapter and two-term
past president of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter.
Kathy currently serves the national association as a member of
the National Chapter Relations Committee. Since 1993 she
has lavished her time on NAPO, volunteering freely for some of
the most challenging (and thankless) jobs, including such
behind-the-scenes work as program development and nominating
committees.
By pioneering the field of needs assessment,
Kathy has helped many organizers create a new income stream.
Kathy has unstintingly shared this knowledge, experience, and
the tools she has developed by speaking at national and regional
conferences. Organizers all over the U.S. have benefited
as she has presented workshops at four national NAPO
conferences. (She is scheduled to present at the 2005 San
Diego conference as well.) Her daylong seminar continues
to help newer organizers to make use of systematic needs
assessment to serve their clients.
Promoting the profession of organizing among the
general public, Kathy's work has been showcased in a dozen
national publications including Better Homes and Gardens, Good
Housekeeping, and Woman's Day, as well as many regional and
local ones. In radio and television appearances Kathy has
raised awareness of organizing and the work of professional
organizers in half the states in the U.S.
Her book, The Organizing Sourcebook: Nine
Strategies for Simplifying Your Life, published in 2001, remains
one of the freshest, most useful introductions to home
organizing.
By her professionalism, hard work, imagination,
and attentiveness to the whole client and the whole organizer,
Kathy Waddill has left an indelible mark on the organizing
profession.
